Deakin Proxy Settings for Deakin College Students

Deakin College Students are required to use a proxy on their devices to access the internet at Deakin. Without the proxy configured, they will be limited to Deakin's website only.

Follow these instructions once connected to eduroam:

Windows PC

  1. Open the Start Menu and search for Internet Options.
  2. Click on the Connections Tab.
  3. Click on the LAN Settings Button.
  4. Check the Automatically Detect Settings button. Leave all other checkboxes unchecked.
  5. Click OK to save proxy settings.
  6. Click OK to exit Internet Options.

Mac OS X

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Select Network to open Network Preferences.
  3. Select Wi‐Fi from the left menu.
  4. Click Advanced… in the bottom right corner.
  5. Click on the Proxies tab along the top of the window.
  6. Check the Auto Proxy Discovery box. Leave other checkboxes as they are.
  7. Click OK to save proxy settings.
  8. Click Apply to apply proxy settings.

iPhone / iPad (iOS)

  1. At the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. In the left‐hand Settings menu, tap Wi‐Fi.
  3. Tap the Info or ‘>’ button next to eduroam to access eduroam’s wireless preferences.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the settings. Set HTTP Proxy to Auto.
  5. Press ‘< Wi‐Fi’ to exit and save proxy settings.

Android

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Wi‐Fi, then eduroam.
  3. Swipe down to Advanced Settings ‐> Proxy.
  4. If there is an Automatic option, choose Automatic.
    If no Automatic option exists, set the proxy to Manual using the following settings:
    • Server: proxy‐b.its.deakin.edu.au (Melbourne) or proxy‐f.its.deakin.edu.au (Geelong)
    • Port: 3128
  5. Save the changes, and exit Settings.

Windows Phone

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Wi‐Fi, then eduroam.
  3. Switch on Proxy.
  4. If there is an Automatic option, choose Automatic.
    If no Automatic option exists, set the proxy to Manual using the following settings:
    • Server/URL: proxy‐b.its.deakin.edu.au (Melbourne) or proxy‐f.its.deakin.edu.au (Geelong)
    • Port: 3128
  5. Tap on check box to save the changes, and exit Settings.
