How to install the Print@Deakin service on your Mac

Prerequisites

  • Mac is connected to the Deakin network

Finding the Print@Deakin software

  1. Go to the Deakin Software Library - www.deakin.edu.au/software
  2. Select Office Applications
  3. Under the Printers heading, select PaperCut Print Client for Personal Laptops

 

Step 1. Install Apple Java

  1. From the Deakin Software Library, select Apple Java 1.6
  2. From the page that opens, select Download

  3. When the download completes, open the file Javaforosx.dmg
  4. Select Continue and follow the prompts to install the software
    During this installation you will be prompted for your Mac username and password

Step 2. Install and run the PaperCut Client

  1. From the Deakin Software Library, select PaperCut Client for Mac OSX 10.7 and above
  2. Enter your Deakin username and password to download the installer

  3. When the download completes, open the file (PaperCutMac1.4.pkg)
     
  4. Select Open at the following message

  5. Select Continue and follow the prompts to install the software
  6. Once installation is complete, launch PCClient (i.e. Papercut) from the Applications folder
  7. Log in to Papercut using your Deakin username and password

  8. Open the System Preferences app and select Print and Scan and confirm a print queue is listed for Burwood, Geelong and Warrnambool


Step 3. Print

  1. When printing at Deakin, select one of either the Deakin Burwood, Geelong or Warrnambool printers
  2. When submitting the job, a message will appear saying it is being held in a queue, waiting for you to release it your preferred printer
